Italy John Paul’s Blood

This undated photo provided by San Pietro della Ienca cultural association Thursday, Jan. 30, 2014 shows the monstrance containing a tiny relic bearing Pope John Paul II’s blood, stolen last week from San Pietro della Ienca chapel, in the Apennine mountains, near L’Aquila, Italy. Italian Police, found Thursday part of the monstrance but the relic inside was gone. Police are searching on the outskirts of L’Aquila city for the tiny relic after three suspected thieves tossed it away. The artifact, about the size of a fingernail, contains blood from when John Paul was wounded in a 1981 shooting. John Paul, who died in 2005 and will be made a saint April 27 2014 during a Vatican ceremony, had celebrated Mass in the San Pietro della Ienca church.
